Tommy Moores, Ph.D.

Professor of Accounting

Dr. Tommy Moores received his Ph.D. (1982) in Accounting from Louisiana State University. He has been at UNLV since January 1989 having previously been on the faculty at Texas Tech University (1982 1988). Dr. Moores primary teaching and research interest is in financial accounting. He is currently teaching ACC402, Financial Reporting II, and ACC702, Financial Reporting Topics. Dr. Moores is the faculty advisor to Beta Alpha Psi and the Internship Coordinator for the Department of Accounting. He is a CPA (Texas) and a member of the Nevada Society of CPAs and the American Accounting Association. His research has been published in academic (e.g., The Journal of Accounting Education, Advances in Accounting, Issues in Accounting Education) and professional journals (e.g., The CPA Journal, Bank Accounting and Finance, Journal of Pension Planning and Compliance). He is the author/co-author of several continuing education courses (e.g., Finacial Statement Analysis, Accounting for Derivatives, and FASB Update) for MicroMash (a subsidiary of Practitioners Publishing).
