Dr. Reuben Neumann, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Accounting, passed away earlier this week. Reuben was a faculty member at UNLV from 1962 to 1993. When Reuben arrived at UNLV (then known as Nevada Southern) in the fall of 1962, the school consisted of four buildings, and the student body was made up of 450 students. That fall, Reuben taught three of the five accounting courses offered. During the next thirty years, he taught every undergraduate course offered in accounting, plus a number of graduate courses. In 1974, Reuben received his Ph.D. from Arizona State University. During his long and distinguished career, he published articles in the CPA Journal, the Journal of Accounting Education, and the Journal of Applied Business Research. He maitained contact with the practical aspects of accounting through consulting, and several of his problems were used on the national CPA exam. In 1993, Reuben was named Professor Emeritus by the UNLV Board of Regents. Since his retirement, Reuben has continued to maintain an active tax practice, preparing tax returns each year for many UNLV faculty and staff members.
His family invites you to a memorial service on Saturday, May 9th at 3:00 p.m. at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89123 (702) 464-8500

During his long career at UNLV, Reuben touched the lives of countless faculty members and students. He will be missed and remembered fondly by all.
