MIS Department to Participate in the Western Regional Graduate Program
The Master of Science program in Management Information Systems (MIS) is just one of three programs in Nevada recently approved to participate in the Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP). The program, piloted by the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) is considered extremely elite in the industry.

"This really is a feather in the cap for the program because participation is peer reviewed, meaning reviewers from other states have to agree that the program is unique and needed for their students," says Ken Peffers, chair for the MIS department.

The WRGP makes high-quality, distinctive graduate programs available to students of the West at a competitive cost. WRGP provides for in-state tuition fees for students from Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. As part of the Student Exchange Program, the program helps place students in a wide-range of graduate programs, all designed around the educational, social, and economic needs of the West.

In order for programs like the MS in MIS at UNLV, to be approved, they must meet the criteria of uniqueness and quality. Programs are nominated by their institutions, peer reviewed and approved biannually by the Student Exchange Program Advisory Council.
