Keith Schwer, Ph.DDirector for Center for Business Economic Resear |

Dr. Schwer is Professor of Economics and Director of the Center for Business and Economic Research. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Maryland. The Center maintains an active program of research on the economy of Las Vegas and Nevada. He is a recognized authority on the economy of Las Vegas and Nevada. He directs the Southern Nevada Economic Outlook Project, and is a member of the forecast panel for the Western Blue Chip and the Chicago Fed. He has been quoted in major national print (such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal) and covered by national television media (for example CBS, CNN). Dr. Schwer has served as the past-president of the Association for University Business and Economic Research. Dr. Schwer has published more than 40 papers in many mainstream journals as well as conducting more applied research. Areas of research include impact analysis, consumer choice, gaming, the Nevada Kids Count Project, and Western States environment issues. A sampling of published research activities includes: The Economic Impact of a Grateful Dead Concert, Regulation of Grand-Canyon Air Tours, Risks of Nuclear Waste Transport, and Eminent Domain Takings. Recently, he conducted a series of seminars at the University of Paris. |
