Professor Poon has been teaching at UNLV since 1989. His teaching areas are corporate finance and investments in the undergraduate program and investments in the MBA program. He has also taught at Hong Kong Baptist University. His primary research is in the area of investments and latest research interests are prudent investment rule, commercial loans' exit fees, multiple stock splits, and earnings restatements. The Journal of Finance, Journal of Banking and Finance, Financial Review, Financial Practice and Education, American Business Law Journal, Ohio State Law Journal, and Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting are some of the academic journals Professor Poon has published in. He was listed in the Who's Who Among America's Teachers while his research was quoted by Wall Street Journal, Investor's Business Daily, and numerous investment reading books.
Dr. Poon was selected as the winner of the 2007-08 UNLV Outstanding Department Chair award. The award represents a strong record of outstanding work as a department chair and recognizes a commitment to UNLV's goal of developing a service-oriented, responsive and accountable administrative infrastructure.
