Professor Richards received his PhD in Business Administration with a concentration in Organization and Administration at the University of Kansas. Since coming to UNLV, he has applied that education and his management experience not only to the courses he has taught but also to his research and his service to the university and wider community. He has taught business and management courses from the introductory to graduate level, including courses in business strategy, organization theory, international management, business and society, and human resource management; served as a Board of Director or consulted with a number of business and nonprofit organizations (e.g., U-Haul International, Citibank Nevada, Amerco Entrepreneurial Institute, World Trade Center Nevada, State of Nevada, and Las Vegas Metro Police Department) in strategic and business planning, organization and job design, organizational decision making, project management, and employee performance appraisal; and supported and actively participated in faculty governance at the university and system levels. Since arriving at UNLV, Professor Richards has served on numerous Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) and UNLV standing and ad hoc committees (including two UNLV President, two Dean of the College of Business, and one UNLV Vice-President of Finance search committees); chaired NSHE and UNLV standing committees; and been Chair of the UNLV Faculty Senate and Chair of the NSHE Council of Faculty Senate Chairs. Professor Richards current research interests focus on business ethics, work goals, and business education. |
