The purpose of MIS is to apply computer and communitication technology to build and operate systems of people, processes, and technology to create value for businesses and their customers.
OUR MISSION
As the MIS department in Nevada's premier research university, our mission is twofold:
- To produce leading edge MIS research. In its short history, our department has already become the most productive MIS research department in the U.S. for its size among business schools without a PhD program, based on the number of publications in top research journals per researcher.
- To educate IS professionals and managers to meet the demands of our economy. Nevada is facing a critical shortage of qualified IS professionals and managers. As a result, our graduates command excellent salaries and benefits from local employers. We aim to attract many more good students to our program and to educate them in a mixture of business and systems concepts and technical skills to prepare them for the professional and managerial jobs of the present and future.
If you're a high school student, a university student, or a working professional and interested in a career as a business information systems professional or manager, please consider joining us. We intend to make our programs among the most innovative and exciting possible and among the very most valuable for our students.
