Undergraduate Program

Students in this program gain the knowledge and skills to support careers as MIS professionals and managers in business.

Southern Nevada is experiencing a critical shortage of IT professionals and managers, caused in part by the area's fast growth and in part by the myth, completely unsupported by facts, that offshore outsourcing is hurting career prospects for new IT professionls. IS graduates earn extremely attractive salaries and employment prospects are expected to be very strong for years to come.

Why study IT in a business school?

The key is that MIS graduates understand both business and IT!

The MIS discipline is focused on developing and maintaining information systems, consisting of processes, people and computer technology, to meet business needs. Examples of business information systems include systems for customer reservations, anti-terrorism intelligence, online banking, customer relationship management, and business planning.

Students in the BSBA (MIS) take
  • Pre-business courses, such as economics, communication, English, and Mathematics.
  • Business courses, such as accounting, marketing, and finance
  • Technical and conceptual IT courses, such as programming, systems analysis and design, project management, and database management systems.
As a result, graduates from our program are more valuable because they have strong backgrounds in both business knowledge and technical skills.
